JOHN BECKER

JOHN BECKERJohn Becker, son of Ethan and Joan, grew up surrounded by the natural - and gastronomical - splendor of the Pacific Northwest. Spending his childhood in Portland and at Cockaigne, John has continued to move between the Eastern seaboard and the West coast, hoping to eventually earn a PhD in English literature.

Having earned a degree for obsessing over the writings of Irish Modernist James Joyce, he hopes to turn to matters culinary in the near future, ensuring that JOY will continue to meet the high standards expected of it. John has acquired a taste for diverse styles of cooking in his travels, including Southeast Asian, Japanese, Mediterranean (especially Lebanese), Indian, African, and Southern cuisine. He is currently an editor's assistant and contributor to various scholarly projects to be published soon by Facts on File.
