Maggie Green


Maggie Green owns the Green Apron Company, a consulting firm specializing in seasonal cooking and cookbook development. Maggie works for a variety of clients as a culinary dietitian, cookbook editor, recipe developer, food and nutrition writer, and industry consultant. She is the author of The Kentucky Fresh Cookbook, published in April 2011.

Maggie worked diligently as a lead editor for the 75th anniversary edition of Joy of Cooking, and continues to promote the true joy of cooking through her work as an editor for the Joy of Cooking Trust. Maggie also edited The Ultrametabolism Cookbook, and the 2009 James Beard award-winning cookbook, BakeWise, by JOY friend, Shirley Corriher.  

Maggie Green lives in the Kentucky suburbs of Cincinnati with her husband (the best male cook she knows), their 3 children, a cat who sleeps by day, and a devoted, shelter-adopted doggie also named Maggie. Her life in her kitchen focuses on cooking fresh meals using real ingredients, with occasional Cheez-Its thrown in for good measure. Maggie values family, good health, and fresh home-cooking and fuels her passion every day as she stands at a cutting board cooking dinner or developing recipes for her clients.
