Anne Mendelson

Anne Mendelson, a family friend, is a freelance writer and editor specializing in culinary subjects. She is considered a leading authority on the history of American cookbooks, and has contributed to such publications as the Oxford Encyclopedia of Food and Drink in America and the essay collection, Gastropolis: Food and New York City. She is a contributing editor at Gourmet Magazine and an occasional contributor to other publications includingThe New York Times Dining Section. Ms. Mendelson also has acted as consulting editor or collaborator on several well-regarded cookbooks, including three works on Mexican cooking by chef-restaurateur Zarela Martinez. Most recently, she published Milk: The Surprising Story of Milk Through the Ages, an homage to all things dairy. Anne lives in northern New Jersey.
